QR Codes and Shortname Links
Boltline uses shortnames (short unique codes) in QR codes and URLs. When you scan a QR code from a printed label or open a shortname link, Boltline redirects you to the right page for that item.
How it works
Labels you create from parts, inventory, workflow cards, and other entities include a QR code. The QR code encodes a shortname. When you scan it (or open the same URL in a browser), Boltline looks up the shortname and sends you to the correct detail page.
Supported shortname types
| Prefix / type | Example | Redirects to |
|---|---|---|
| Part | P-* | Part detail |
| Inventory | N-* | Inventory item detail |
| Location | L-* | Location detail |
| Work Plan (template) | WP-* | Work Plan |
| Work Plan (run) | WR-* | Running Work Plan |
| Kit | K-* | Kit detail |
| Order | O-* | Order detail |
| Project | (varies) | Project |
| Workflow card | WFL-* | Workflow card in its workflow |
You can create QR-encoded labels from the Part detail (Print label), from the Inventory item (Create label), and from workflow cards (Actions → QR Code). Each opens a print dialog so you can print the label with the QR code.
