Duplicate an Inventory Item

Duplicating creates a copy of an inventory item quantity and location; aBOM data, activity, and attachments are not. Custom fields are copied for lot-tracked parts only.

From the Inventory Item Detail window:

  • Click Edit.
  • Select Duplicate to open the Duplicate Inventory dialog.

In the dialog:

  • Review the message: "Clicking submit will begin copying this instance, including its quantity and location. aBOM data, activity, and attachments will not be copied."
  • If the part is serial-tracked, enter the required Serial Number (the dialog shows a preview of existing serials to avoid duplicates).
  • Click Submit to start the copy.

While the copy is in progress, the UI shows Copying.... When finished, you are redirected to the new inventory item.

caution

Only quantity and location are copied. You will need to rebuild or adjust the aBOM and add any activity or attachments on the new item as needed.

note

For lot-tracked items, the new item will merge with the source lot and share activity.
