- Slack Access: Admin access to your Slack workspace (to approve the Boltline app)
Configure Slack Integration
- Navigate to Organization > Integrations.
- Locate Slack (or GovSlack) in the list of available integrations.
- Click Configure.
- In the Authentication section, click Authenticate.
- You will be redirected to Slack to authorize the Boltline app.
- Select the Slack workspace to connect.
- Review the permissions and click Allow.
- You will be redirected back to Boltline.
Success!
Your Slack integration is now connected.
Permissions Requested
When you authorize Boltline, the following Slack permissions are requested:
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| channels:read | View list of public channels to select where to post messages |
| groups:read | View list of private channels to select where to post messages |
| users:read | View list of users to select who to send direct messages to |
| chat:write | Send messages to channels and users |
| chat:write.public | Post to public channels without joining them first |
| chat:write.customize | Customize the sender name and icon for messages |
Using the Integration
Once connected, you can create workflow automation rules that post messages to Slack channels or users when specific events occur, such as a card moving to a particular status.
