Microsoft Teams Integration
Connect Boltline to Microsoft Teams to send automated messages to your team's Teams channels.
Boltline also supports GovTeams for organizations with compliance requirements. The configuration process is the same.
Prerequisites
Before configuring the Teams integration, ensure you have:
- Admin Access: Organization Owner or Admin role in Boltline
- Microsoft Access: Admin access to your Microsoft Entra (Azure AD) tenant to approve the Boltline app
Configure Teams Integration
- Navigate to Organization > Integrations.
- Locate Teams (or GovTeams) in the list of available integrations.
- Click Configure.
- In the Connection section, click Connect.
- You may be redirected to Microsoft to sign in and consent to the Boltline app.
- Review the requested permissions and approve them.
- You will be redirected back to Boltline.
Your Teams integration is now connected.
Permissions Requested
When you authorize Boltline, the following Microsoft Graph permissions are requested:
| Permission | Why It's Needed |
|---|---|
| ChannelMessage.Send | Post messages to Teams channels |
| Channel.ReadBasic.All | List channels so you can choose where to post |
| Team.ReadBasic.All | List the teams Boltline can post to |
| TeamMember.Read.All | Read team membership for message targeting |
| offline_access | Keep the connection active without re-authenticating |
Using the Integration
Once connected, you can create workflow automation rules that post messages to a Teams channel when specific events occur, such as a card moving to a particular status. When setting up a rule, select the team and the channel within it where Boltline should post.
